LOS ANGELES, CA — While Southern Californians hop in their cars and flock to the hills to see the rare "super bloom" turning th normally arid landscape bright yellow, orange, purple and fuschia, there's another way to catch the spectacular sight closer to home. Los Angeles International Airport is experiencing its own Super Bloom with a profusion of wildflowers on the airfield.

Recent heavy rains have resulted in large fields of wildflowers coming into bloom, and the flowers are located across the airfield complex, with the highest concentration on the north airfield, between runways 24L and 24R, officials said.

The flowers extend approximately the length of the runways, which is 10,885 feet.
