Super Bowl LIII: 5 Things To Know About The Rams-Patriots Matchup
How many records will Tom Brady set? What are the odds of an underdog upset?

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Patriots and Rams will meet Sunday for just the second time in Super Bowl history, and no matter who wins, Super Bowl LIII will be a record-setter.
In fact, Patriots star Tom Brady, alone, is poised to go home with a number of records. He’s guaranteed to set a new record for the most Super Bowl appearances, a record he already holds. If he wins, he’ll set a record for most Super Bowl wins (6) by a player and become the oldest quarterback to win the championship. If he loses, he’ll tie for the most Super Bowl losses by a quarterback , according to CBS Sports.
But there is a whole lot more at stake Sunday then Brady’s stat sheet. Here are five things you need to know about Super Bowl LIII.

- The Rams will take on the Patriots Sunday at 3:30 p.m. PST. CBS will air the game and stream it at CBSSports.com or on the CBS Sports App.
- Wippersnappers Vs. Old Hands: At 41, Tom Brady will be the oldest quarterback to ever start a Super Bowl game, breaking the record he set last year when he suited up at 40. Conversely, Jared Goff, just a few months past his 24th birthday, is one of the youngest. Only three starters in history were younger than Goff. The age difference between the two quarterbacks is the largest in Super Bowl history.
Brady isn’t the only one setting age records on Sunday. Rams coach Sean McVay is 33-years-old, making him the youngest coach in Super Bowl history. He’ll be up against the Patriots’ Bill Belichick, who is twice his age at 66 years old. That 33-year gap is another Super Bowl record, according to CBS. - If the Patriots win, they’ll hold the record for most playoff wins, and they’ll tie the Steelers for most Super Bowl Championships.
- Brady may be New England’s favorite son, but he’s really a California boy as is Goff. As CBS Sports notes, both starting quarterbacks Sunday hail from the Bay Area. Goff is from Novato, while Brady grew up in San Mateo.
- The odds are in, and the Patriots are the favorites by a 2.5 spread. But not everyone is counting out those underdog Rams. According to SB Nation, someone placed a $1.5 million bet on the Rams with sportsbook William Hill, and it’s the same person who wagered $1 million on last year’s underdog champs the Eagles. As SB Nation notes, “over the past 11 years, the underdog has covered the spread nine times, and won the game outright eight times.
