SWAT Team Shoots Barricaded Suspect In Downtown LA Hotel
A four-hour standoff ended Tuesday when officers shot and killed a man who had been barricaded in a hotel after threatening officers: LAPD.
LOS ANGELES CA — Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team officers shot and killed a man who was barricaded in a downtown Los Angeles hotel Tuesday afternoon.
The slain suspect was the only person injured in the standoff, according to the LAPD.
The standoff began Tuesday morning in the 100 block of West Fifth Street, said LAPD spokeswoman Alba Mendez. The address is the location of the Rosslyn Hotel.

It began at about 8 a.m. when paramedics had been sent to the location on a report of a "medical emergency," according to the LAPD.
"Upon arrival, the suspect brandished a firearm at paramedics" and a help call was broadcast, police said in a statement late Tuesday morning.

"LAPD officers from Central Division were then dispatched to the location," police said. "When officers arrived the suspect brandished a firearm towards the officers and retreated back inside the location. The suspect has barricaded himself with a firearm."
Streets were closed in the area as a precaution while SWAT personnel worked to take the suspect into custody.
