T-Mobile Outage Affects Thousands Across SoCal

The company is blaming a third-party fiber interruption, for the service disruption. Service will soon be restored, company officials said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — T-Mobile customers in Southern California are among thousands across the nation without service Monday night.

Large network outages were reported in Los Angeles, San Francisco and other major U.S. cities, according to Downdetector.com. The outage affected more than 80,000 people, preventing them from making calls, texting and using cellular services.

Shortly after 7 p.m., more than 83,ooo people nationwide had reported a loss of service, but many had recovered service by 9 p.m., according to Downdetector.com. In Los Angeles, about 6,000 people reported losing T-Mobile service to Downdetector, the website reported. Many in the Long Beach area were still without service hours into the outage Monday night.

T-Mobile users took to Twitter in frustration.

"Literally why is no one addressing the T-Mobile outage rn??? We need answers and for service to be restored," one person tweeted.

T-Mobile's Network chief responded to the complaints on Twitter, promising service would soon be restored.

"Our teams are rapidly addressing a 3rd party fiber interruption issue that has intermittently impacted some voice, messaging and data services in several areas, T-Mobile network chief Neville Ray tweeted at 8:46 p.m. "The situation is improving and we hope to have a full resolution very soon. We apologize for any disruption caused."
