Target Donates $100,000 to Los Angeles Regional Food Bank During Volunteer Event with Roy Choi

Los Angeles-area Target team members joined the James Beard Award-winning chef to pack food boxes for local families.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank received a $100,000 donation from Target during a volunteer event that brought together approximately 30 Los Angeles-area Target team members and acclaimed Southern California chef, restaurateur, and television personality Roy Choi.

Volunteers spent the day packing food boxes that help provide meals for local families facing food insecurity across Los Angeles County.

“We’re dealing with two longtime partners of the food bank,” said Michael Flood, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. “Target has been donating funds, food, and volunteering for a long, long time - which is greatly appreciated. It allows us to do the work here and serve the communities of Los Angeles County. Roy choi has also worked with us for over a decade, helping families, seniors, and people struggling with food needs. Thanks to both of you for making this happen.”

Choi, a James Beard Award-winning chef and longtime supporter of the food bank, recently collaborated with Target on the limited-time Good & Gather Collabs + Roy Choi collection of snacks.

The donation will help support the Food Bank's mission as demand for food assistance remains high throughout the region. Last year, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank distributed an estimated 129 million meals and currently serves nearly 1.1 million people each month.
