Teen Siblings Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver, 1 Killed: LAPD

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police were searching Wednesday for a driver who fled after striking two teenage siblings walking in South Los Angeles, killing a 16-year-old boy and seriously injuring his 14-year-old sister.

The teens were crossing 60th Street with their mother at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 5900 block of 10th Avenue when they were hit by a blue Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound on 60th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His sister was taken to a hospital. NBC Los Angeles reported she was in stable condition.

The teens' mother was not struck, police said.

The Sentra continued after the collision and struck a parked vehicle before becoming disabled. The female driver and a male passenger then got out and ran from the scene, police said.

Police said that the Sentra was a rental vehicle, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Police did not immediately release a detailed description of either person.
