Toddler Found At Scene Of Murder-Suicide

Officers rescued a two-year-old girl found in the Valley home where officers found the bodies of a man and a woman shot to death.

SUN VALLEY, CA — A 2-year-old girl wearing only a diaper was found unharmed inside a home in Sun Valley where a murder-suicide occurred Monday evening.

Officers went to a home in the 11200 block of Covello Street, near Fair Avenue, about 7 p.m. after receiving a shots fired call and found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds and a man with a gunshot wound to the head and gun was recovered, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

After a search of the home, officers found the child unharmed and took her to the LAPD's North Hollywood Division, Lopez said.

"She was in a very secure playpen with toys," LAPD Valley Bureau Homicide Lt. Mike Kozak told reporters at the scene. "She looked well taken care of. She didn't seem to know what was going on, obviously at that age they really don't know what's going on."

The names of the dead were not disclosed. The woman was in her 30s and the man in his 60s, according to media reports.

The relationship between the deceased was not immediately available.
