UCLA Athletics Reports Two Positive Coronavirus Results

An unnamed person within the UCLA football program has tested positive for coronavirus, but the result will not affect Saturday's game.

LOS ANGELES, CA — An unnamed person within the UCLA football program has tested positive for coronavirus, UCLA Athletics announced. But the result will not affect Saturday evening's game against Arizona State.

Another person associated with the Bruin's baseball program also tested positive, according to UCLA's weekly report on testing released Friday.

In the past week, 483 coronavirus PCR tests and 966 Antigen tests were given to student athletes, coaches and athletic department staff.

Anyone with a positive result is required to isolate for 10 days from the date of the test or until there is proof of a false positive result. Anyone found to have been in close contact with someone who tested positive is required to quarantine for 14 days from the last date of contact.

Since UCLA Athletics began testing on June 22, 12,277 tests have been administered with 26 positives among players, coaches and staff, or 0.21 percent, according to the Friday report.

Currently, student athletes from the following programs are being tested weekly: Baseball, Basketball (M/W), Cross Country (M/W), Football, Gymnastics (W), Softball, Swim & Dive (W), Track & Field (M/W), Volleyball (M), and Water Polo (M/W).

UCLA does not release the names of individuals who have tested positive or specify their roles in their programs in an attempt to protect their privacy.
