Universe Multicultural Film Festival 2025

The Universal Multicultural Film Festival is returning to Los Angeles! This three-day festival is a celebration of international cinema and culture.

UMFF has many documentaries that highlight the diversity of places near and far. “9066: Fear, Football, and the Theft of Freedom” traces Japanese history back to World War I, while “Second Chance” displays steps toward better understanding, compassion and ultimately, hope for juveniles who are some of the most vulnerable to society. The film, “Monisto”, follows the jewelry’s near extinction and its modern revival by contemporary artisans, revealing rights, traditions, and cultural resilience across the ages.

We have 7 panels, the Pitch and Catch panel is a place for a face-to-face discussion, individual meetings for projects that searching investors, producers and distributors. Other Panels include Technology in Post Production, Multicultural Screenplay, Working with Asian Film, Produce Global Film, Distributor mixer, Audition for Multicultural Movies.

UMFF has many feature films to offer, both documentary and narrative. Fantasy fans will love the Japanese fantasy-adventure “Dragon Heart”. Filmgoers seeking more realistic fare can enjoy the Korean film “Water Lillies”, an inspiring pursuit of surviving the weight of carrying another’s sorrow.

While the short film “The Stone is Flying” highlights family tension and the will to overcome. “The Euology” follows a story of a grieving self-destructive young man who is visited with a surprise. “Daydreamer” is a more grounded fantasy story escaping into a more peaceful reality.

Fashion is one of the most beloved forms of culture and will be on display at the red carpet. Come dressed up and take pictures with the stars. The Maeya Cultural Ambassador contest is a beauty pageant held Saturday evening. Each contestant displays an outfit from their culture.

The Mistantla Folk group and the Mexica Dance Coatlicue Tonantzin group will both be giving spectacular performances that they are well known for. Mistantla Folk group has rich folkloric music and a dance tradition that empowers their audience. Whereas Mexica Dance Coatlicue Tonantzin group teaches Mexica worldview—dance, drumming, ritual, philosophy, youth mentoring—with reverence and continuity of tradition. They’re both dance troupes and cultural-ceremonial practitioners, not simply performers. Their performances involve music, movement, costumes, prayer, and offerings; they integrate past and present, spirituality and activism. We are honored to have these talented performers showcase what they do best!

On the award stage, there are modern musician team: Chase Bell and Reppasenta; who will showcase the American Culture by performing the popular songs with dances. Chase and Reppasenta both are award winning international performing and recording Artist.
