LOS ANGELES, CA — Vice President Kamala Harris is slated to arrive in Los Angeles late Wednesday afternoon for a campaign stop in Manhattan Beach. Her schedule might make for rush hour traffic delays on the Westside, and commuters are advised to expect delays in the area.

The vice president is expected to fly into Los Angeles International Airport between 4 and 5 p.m. before heading to the nearby campaign reception fundraiser. Harris, whose home is in Brentwood, is expected to remain in the Los Angeles area overnight before heading to Sacramento on Thursday to speak at a California Legislature Democratic Caucus and returning to the Los Angeles area again Thursday night.

As with presidential visits, the vice presidential motorcade is known to bring traffic to a halt on major freeways and thoroughfares in Los Angeles. That can often mean motorcade closures on the San Diego (405) or Santa Monica (10) freeways. At other times, the vice president and president are known to crisscross the city by helicopter.

Harris hasn't returned to her home since November when pro-Palestinian protesters threw fake blood in front of a Brentwood fundraiser she attended hen placed red handprints on the ground before her arrival.

About two dozen protesters chanted "Free Palestine" and "Harris, Harris you can't hide you're committing genocide," blocked cars on the street and yelled "Shame on you" as people trickled into the home of attorneys Cliff Gilbert-Lurie and Leslie Gilbert-Lurie.

As she approached the podium to speak, Harris was interrupted by someone who called for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. It was unclear who it was.

Harris then paused and said, "We live in a democracy. This is a very difficult time and it's important that we all agree that people should have the freedom to have their voices heard."

Harris, in recent weeks, has ramped up her campaign appearances for President Joe Biden's re-election effort.

She is seen as a key campaign figure, who can fire up voters on reproductive rights, which Democrats see a major strength this election year.

"Former President Trump hand-picked – hand-picked – three Supreme Court justices because he intended for them to overturn Roe. He intended for them to take your freedoms. He is the architect of this health care crisis. And he is not done,” Harris told a Virginia crowd Tuesday while speaking in front of a massive “Restore Roe” backdrop CNN reported.
