What Are Your Best LA Dodgers Memories?

Tell us about the love you and your family have for the Dodgers. Patch wants to share your stories.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Yesterday my sister called me from Arizona to find out if I’ve been watching the Dodgers World Series run. She didn’t have to tell me why she was thinking about the Dodgers. I already knew. Dad.

We lost our dad in 2016, and perhaps nothing conjures him back like the play-by-play of a Dodgers game. It’s the soundtrack of our childhood. It’s much the same for casual fans and blue-bleeding diehards who are rooting for the Dodgers to go all the way. Those memories of past glories, the triumphs, the defeats — are all cherished.

Whether it be the shared excitement of an entire city or personal memories of slow summer games with dad, these are the times that hold a special place in the heart.

Though I remember the last time the Dodgers won the World Series, my favorite memories are from watching regular old games on TV. I was a kid who loved TV almost as much as I loved getting into trouble. Though TV restriction was my parents’ go-to punishment, I quickly discovered the Dodgers were my get-out-of-jail-free card. If my dad caught me watching a Dodgers game when I wasn’t allowed to watch TV, he’d conveniently forget that I was on restriction. Instead, he’d plop down in his chair, and we’d watch the game together. The score didn’t matter. For me, it was always a win.
