Winter Storm Causes LAX Flight Cancellations

A massive winter storm is causing flight cancellations and delays in and out of Los Angeles International Airport.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Thanksgiving travelers hoping to return home to Los Angeles or to other cities through Chicago are seeing their flights cancelled Monday morning due to high winds and blizzard conditions in the Windy City, according to flight data.

Ten flights from Chicago to LAX were cancelled, according to the flylax.com list of arrivals and departures. Affected airlines include United, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand and SAS. All had 9:05 a.m. arrivals cancelled. American, Japan and Malaysia flights due to arrive from Chicago at 10:15 a.m. were also cancelled.

A Winter Storm Warning was in effect in the Chicago area until 9 a.m. CST (7 a.m. PST).

Five flights to Chicago were delayed from 6:10 a.m. to 9 a.m., including American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia and Malaysia.

Also, three flights to Boston were delayed from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m., including Virgin Atlantic, Delta and China Airlines.
