12 Migrants Rescued Off Orange County Coast Tuesday: Report

Twelve migrants were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Huntington Beach Fire Department on Tuesday, reports say.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A dozen migrants were rescued from a boat that washed ashore in Orange County Tuesday, the Daily Pilot reported.

Huntington Beach Spokesperson Jennifer Carey told the Daily Pilot that a lifeguard spotted a boat that looked abandoned floating off the shore of Sunset Beach Tuesday evening. The lifeguard found 12 people on the boat and called the Coast Guard, she said.

Two of the migrants were hospitalized while seven others were treated for minor injuries, reports said.

CBS Los Angeles reported that 10 of the people on the boat were Mexican citizens, and one person was a Colombian citizen. All migrants were between the ages of 19 and 40, seven were male, and five were female, the report said.
