SEAL BEACH, CA — Orange County firefighters were hard at work this week ensuring that berm areas across the Orange County coast could stand up to high surf.

Early Sunday morning, Orange County firefighters received a report of two homes flooded in the community of Surfside. According to the OCFA, the high tide and surf breached the berms in place and flooded two nearby homes.

The homes were flooded with at least 1-2 feet of water in the garage, authorities said.

Later that same day, Orange County firefighters rebuilt the berm area to ensure that the homes would be safe despite high surf conditions. No one was injured in the flooding.

"The dozers have been a part of our up-staffing of units in preparation of storm-related problems," an OCFA statement said. "We will continue to work and monitor the situation with the City of Seal Beach and provide aid as needed."
