5 Arrested After North Orange County Burglaries, Pursuit

Arrests were made following a rash of street robberies in Garden Grove and Huntington Beach, cops say.

GARDEN GROVE, CA —Five arrests were made over the weekend after a series of robberies that plagued Garden Grove and Huntington Beach, cops said. Garden Grove Police, working with Fountain Valley Police Department, arrested four adult men and one male juvenile on suspicion of committing the recent street robberies, Garden Grove Police Lt. Carl Whitney announced Sunday.

On Friday, about 2:20 a.m. undercover Garden Grove detectives were surveilling suspects in street crimes in Garden Grove, Whitney said.

The surveillance started in Long Beach and the suspects were then followed to Huntington Beach, Whitney said.

"The suspects divided themselves in two vehicles, a silver Jaguar and a black Chrysler Minivan, he said.
Detectives then followed to a home in the 10000 block of Jon Jay Drive in Huntington Beach, a home that was temporarily unoccupied and tented for fumigation," Whitney said. "The detectives watched three of the suspects exit the home with property they were allegedly stealing, while two others served as lookouts.
Detectives the two vehicles as they drove out of the area and made calls for backup from Fountain Valley police in order to make a stop on the suspects."

Fountain Valley officers stopped the minivan and took two men into custody.

Other Fountain Valley officers attempted to stop the Jaguar but the driver fled, leading police on a chase that went through Fountain Valley and ended with a crash in Santa Ana, Whitney said.

The three suspects in the Jaguar and were eventually arrested by Fountain Valley and Santa Ana police as well as Orange County sheriff's deputies.

The arrests on Friday included Abelardo Vallecillo, 18, of Stanton; Steven Bryan Brown, 18, of Bellflower; Alejandro Vallecillo, 20, of Stanton; Amil Cabral Campbell, 21, of Long Beach and a 17-year-old boy who was sent to Orange County Juvenile Hall for holding, Whitney said.

The four adults were booked at the Orange County Jail.
