5 Things, July 31: Beach Concert, Seal Beach Boulevard to Get Better
Five things to know about Wednesday, July 31, including improvements coming to Seal Beach Boulevard and an easy way to help the Friends of the Library.

Concert in the Park: Cliff Wagner & The Old No. 7 will perform at Eisenhower Park next to the pier today as the latest in the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce’s summer concert series. The concert starts at 6 p.m. and continues to 8 p.m. The crowds gather early, so bring the family and blankets and chairs before 6 p.m. to stakeout a good spot.
No Pain, No Gain: The clouds are parting, and the suns rays are shining down on the West County Connector project with concrete signs that the end is approaching. On Friday, crews completed a successful deck pour on the west half of the Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge. According to OCTA, “the new west half of the bridge will be open to the public in September, at which time traffic will be restored to two lanes in each direction. Once the bridge is completed in mid-2014 it will be twice the size of the original structure, with four lanes northbound and three lanes southbound.”
