Aug. 2 Briefing: Stand-Up Comedians to Raise Money for Surfrider

Good Laughs, Good Cause: Brix Sunset Beach is starting off its August calendar with big laughs by hosting a free stand-up comedy show entitled “The Schtick At Brix” from 7-9 pm on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013.
Brix is located at 16635 Pacific Coast Highway, Sunset Beach, CA 90742, at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and 19th Street on the beach side.
The show will feature a roster of both Orange County and Long Beach-based comedians who have performed at top comedy venues throughout Southern California.
Scheduled performers: Shaelan Bowers, Evan Cassidy, Rachele Friedland, Adam Hastings, Sheno Khal, Khari Reid, Erik Westland. The show will be hosted by Shelley Ginsburg.
Comedy show guests are encouraged to make a donation to the Huntington Beach/Seal Beach chapter of Surfrider Foundation that evening.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame: The Bronco World Series continues through Sunday at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base. Admission ranges from free for small children to $8 for adults.

Don’t Eat the Fish: The California Environmental Protection Agency issued an advisory this week warning children and women of childbearing years not eat bass, carp or trout larger than 16 inches caught in California waterways because they contain unhealthful levels of mercury. The warning apparently does not extend to adult men - apparently what is not good for the goose is ok for the gander.
