Did you Feel It? Seal Beach Center of Recent Quake

Seal Beach was the epicenter of a 2.7 magnitude earthquake centered near Rossmoor at just before 2 p.m. Thursday

SEAL BEACH, CA — The USGS reported a 2.7 magnitude earthquake that was centered at roughly 2 and a half miles north, northwest of Seal Beach, California at just before 2 p.m. The USGS stated that the quake struck three kilometers west of Rossmoor today, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake happened about 1:54 p.m., the USGS said. The USGS map shows that the center of the quake was just south of Cal State Long Beach campus, near the Bixby Village Golf Course.

There were no incidents reported according to Orange County Sheriff's Department Lt. Mark Stichter.

As per California usual, social media #quake was immediately open for business. From excited to ironic, California loves to tweet following a minor quake. A 2.7 magnitude quake is considered "light" on the USGS scale, but it was strong enough to get the neighbors' attention in the Rossmoor, Seal Beach and Los Alamitos areas.
