ANAHEIM, CA — Disneyland Resort announced the cancellation of the popular Grad Nite party for the class of 2020 this year.

Although not entirely unexpected, this is yet another disappointment for this year's graduating class amid coronavirus shutdowns of school, graduation, and now the happiest party on earth.

"While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, the safety and well-being of our Guests and Cast Members remain the top priority of the Disneyland Resort," the reported on their Disney Youth website.

The park cited the substantial planning, coordination, and travel that goes into the event as the reason.

"We felt that this was the right decision to make at this time," a park spokesperson said. "We know how disappointing this news will be to the many students who were planning to join us this year."

If you are a student or parent who is part of a group that was planning to attend Grad Nite 2020, the park advised consulting with your group organizer.

"We are reaching out to each confirmed group's contact or travel planner with more information," they said. "As we anticipate a heavy volume of inquiries, we appreciate your patience as we work diligently to communicate with everyone."

The park promised information about future events would be shared as soon as it becomes available.

"We look forward to hosting Disneyland Resort Grad Nite next year and for years to come," the spokesperson said.
