Drug Take Back Day To Be Held In Seal Beach

The drive will be held for residents to anonymously drop off prescription medication on Saturday, Oct. 28.

SEAL BEACH, CA — Do you have unused, old or expired prescription medication taking up space in your medicine cabinet?

The Seal Beach Police Department is hosting a recycling event Saturday, Oct. 28 in commemoration of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, and residents are encouraged to stop by and dispose of their unused medication.

The event is designed to be a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs, the city said in a statement.

While unused or expired prescriptions will be accepted, the city will not take sharp objects, marijuana, liquids or pressure canisters.

“Throughout Orange County we hear of tragic events in which people die from an overdose of prescription medication,” Seal Beach Chief of Police Michael Henderson said. “By creating this opportunity for the community to safely dispose of unused and expired medication, our goal is to help prevent access to dangerous prescription medication. We are grateful for the continued partnership with the Golden Rain Foundation and Leisure World community for allowing us to host this event at their main entrance.”
