DUI Checkpoint This December In Seal Beach: What To Know

The Seal Beach Police Department is holding a DUI checkpoint this December. Here's what to know.

SEAL BEACH, CA — Seal Beach drivers, be aware: the Seal Beach Police Department is holding a DUI checkpoint on Dec. 16 at an undisclosed location within city limits.

The checkpoint will be held from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., police said. The location of the checkpoint will be determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes, SBPD Chief Michael Henderson told Patch.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Chief Michael Henderson said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties as well as a suspended license.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
