Firefighting Runoff Brings Warning For Seal Beach

Firefighting runoff from the Anaheim Canyon Fire has drawn a precautionary beach warning in Seal Beach.

SEAL BEACH, CA — A precautionary beach warning was given Wednesday due to expected firefighter runoff, the Orange County Health Agency reported.

The precaution was released on Tuesday, Oct. 3 due to large volume of firefighting runoff in Anaheim.

Sunset Aqautic Marina is sampled weekly at the bulkhead between docks C and D. The current status is based upon the most recent sampling results.

Ocean and bay waters are posted with warning signs when bacterial levels in ocean or bay waters exceed health standards, according to OC Health.

Test results indicate elevated levels of bacteria exceeding standards in the ocean or bay waters at this location. Beach goers should avoid contact with waters in the area posted with warnings. Usually 150 feet upcoast and 150 feet downcoast of the sampling location is posted. Storm drain, creek or river water as well as the ocean or bay water impacted by runoff should also be avoided.
