Friday Wave Check

Playful size surf, with deteriorating conditions.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Los Alamitos-Seal Beach Patch surf report.  Well, if you're getting a early start to your weekend, then don't put paddling at the top of your to-do list. Yep we're seeing a decent dose of energy, but those conditions are taking a turn for the worse.  Most spots are already seeing some bump or even light chop on it due to the variable winds. We've got a mixture of continued holding west northwest swell and some smaller south southwesterly energy in the water.  That recipe is delivering some crumbly and bumpy lines, with not a lot to get you motivated. Most spots in Seal Beach are running about knee to chest high, with the focal points pulling some larger sets.  Taking a look at those tides. At 9:37 this morning it drops to a 0.1 low which will have many beaches lacking water mid-morning.  The tide then pushes back up to a 3.1 high at 4:51 this afternoon. If you must get wet, throw on at least a 3/2 full-suit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees.  See ya in the water! FYI: The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after rain for at least 72 hours due to urban runoff, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
