Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Los Alamitos-Seal Beach Patch surf report. Well, what a bummer! We finally have a modest amount of swell in the water, but unfortunately we're starting off with some pretty crummy conditions. There's some bump or even light chop on the water thanks to the variable west northwest wind.
As far as the surf goes...we're seeing a mixture of energy out there. We have some west northwest and northwest swells and some southerly energy in the background. That recipe is offering some fast and fairly broken-up lines which are a bit disorganized due to the wind.
Most Seal Beach spots are running about knee to chest high, with the top combo spots pulling some plus sets. At 7:16 this morning the tide dropped to a 0.3 low which will have many breaks needing water mid-morning. The tide then climbs back up to a 2.8 high at 2:00 this afternoon.

If you're gonna to get out there regardless of the stormy conditions, then you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 full-suit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 57 and 58 degrees. Good luck out there!! FYI...the County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
