Get A Lyft In Seal Beach New Year's Eve 2020

SEAL BEACH, CA — The Honda Center, Anaheim Ducks, OC Brewers Guild and more local organizations want to ensure everyone has a safe start to the New Year.

As part of the Orange County Ride Smart Coalition, all three have partnered with Lyft to offer $10 off Lyft rides on New Year's Eve.

Orange County residents who enter the code "OCNYE" into the Lyft app any time between 8 p.m. on December 31 to 4 a.m. on January 1, 2020.

"Drinking and driving simply isn’t an option," Erin Dugan Meluso, RADD President told Patch. "RADD is proud to be a member of the Orange County Ride Smart Coalition to spread awareness about safe ride options - especially on New Year’s Eve."

New Year’s Eve is notoriously associated with high rates of drunk driving.

• According to the California Highway Patrol, a total of 1,140 people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence across California on New Year’s Eve last year. That was an increase from the previous year’s 936.
• Between Christmas and New Year’s, 40 percent of deadly crashes involve drunk drivers, according to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
