So much for the upcoming season! The New 2014-2015 Season just opened! & the selected first much-hailed live current play is A Truly First-Rate Broadway Tony Award Winner, “GOOD PEOPLE“... a powerful play you won’t soon forget. Indeed, Much Awarded Plays by author David Lindsay-Abaire have been remarkable with dazzling storylines, fast & roaring Smiles & Laughter by unique characters, BUT! suddenly switched to deep feelings & inside angers the “CORE” of what’s so most important(past Feelings & Angers each character suddenly “Opens” to us, supported by his fine writing & intense digging into each character until, w(audience) are fixated to shockingly understand what makes each character run on. His wise views of PSYCH are ready to explode, if their Life needs & hurts aren’t fed. Blow-Outs or Drop-Outs? ... What’s Finally ahead? Both “GOOD PEOPLEs” top Tony Award & the playwright’s Highly admired big hit last year’s “Rabbit Hole”, both won Awards!
In the play, “Good People” , the core story is best simply outlining Marg, a very outgoing now middle-aged South Boston Poor gal, who can make us scream with laughs all day. Trouble is, now with a sick daughter, another job-fired, no cash, & not a hubby whether married or paying lawyers to her. Question for us: “Is Marg, still one of them “Good People” like the fun-going girl she once was? Or, on the other hand, will the playwright’s brilliant “PSYCH- Insights” soon have us sad about Marg & Life?
Writer: DAVID Lindsay-ABAIRE-- With his Awards, Nominations & combined Humor/Heart & Psych A+
Director: JEFF MAYNARD-- Core PLAY issues not only both Fun & Anger, but truly makes us re-think our lives A++
CAST: Katie MacNichol--each scene, makes us ever more aware & rattled by her boiling inner life of feelings. Many fine Margaret ... central poor “Person” in the play. By last curtain we see that though her powerful loud street humor can bring tons laughs, but she’s also an even Bigger street-spitfire--sitting on anger for losses/ no hubby/ sick daughter/ no job, no help) Ow!!
Martin Kildare--Dr.Mike--plays & fits well! (as Big Doctor who made it, out of poor/rough South Boston). He was tough, too, but now’s got, great house, in good-town, younger, pretty wife, & cute, healthy daughter. He Blows Top when harped by Marg.
Anne Gee Byrd--Dottie & Gigi Bermingham--Jean. These FUN gal friends of Marg not only grew up with her, but go along with “Woe-Is-Me’s” themselves, too. Like some politics, they talk/vote more for push for Gimme ways.
Wyatt Fenner--touchingly plays Stevie, young Manager as Marg’s Boss (he must pink-slip for late/shaggy work though his poor mom also knew her years ago. Stevie(Only Gentlish Care) can’t save her, but his kindness merits Bravo!!
Sophina Brown--is Kate, Dr Mike’s young, smart, attractive wife. BUT- ouch! a grand wife, in this playwright’s world is, as others, has her own Fiery wants, hurts and angers, Mommy/Wife or not. Once again, this writer is Super Psych-Happy/wise?
