Help OC's Tiniest Homeless Residents: Los Alamitos
One in 3 American families struggles to afford diapers for their children, according to HomeAidOC. A drive to help the needy is underway.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Homelessness is one of Orange County's most significant issues in 2018, but what to do about it is a more difficult question to answer for residents. With a recent essentials drive, there is something everyone can do to help.
According to HomeAidOC, California ranks #5 in the nation for homeless children, and families represent over half of those who currently reside in Orange County shelters.

In a recent release, Hutchens encouraged all in her community to participate in the new drive to collect baby essentials for families in need.
From now until June 8, HomeAid Orange County, in partnership with the Children and Families Commission of Orange County, will be collecting basic baby essentials such as diapers, wipes, and food, which to distribute to families in our community.

“The average family needs 3,000 diapers a year for one child,” said Hutchens, who serves as the Honorary Chair for the HomeAid Essentials Campaign. “For homeless families, this means choosing between diapers or food, and that’s no choice any family should have to make.”
HomeAid Orange County will be collecting items at the Builders for Babies event June 8 underneath the “Big A” at Angel Stadium.
