House Fire: Couple Saved, Cat Perished In Placentia
A couple was saved but their cat perished in a Sunday morning house fire in Placentia. Another garage fire in Santa Ana.

PLACENTIA, CA — A home on Placentia went up in flames early Sunday morning, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz. Two residents woke to discover the house on fire, and two cats were still inside.
The fire began in the garage of a single family on the 900 block of Key Drive and extended into the attic, according to reports.
"Firefighters arrived on scene and were able to knock down the fire which spread from garage to attic, after approximately 1 hour," Kurtz said. "Two adults were displaced from the damage, which amounted to approximately $200,000 to the structure and $150,000 as to contents. The Red Cross was assisting the pair."

One cat who was in the home during fire fighting efforts did not escape the residence and perished, OCFA Capt. Stephen Horner said.
In another garage fire, in Santa Ana, two adults and two pets were displaced when their garage caught fire at just before 5:30 a.m. Monday. That fire was out within 15 minutes of the firefighter's arrival. No injuries were reported in that fire on the 1100 block of Moore Street, Horner said.
