Huntington Beach Cops Treated For Fentanyl Exposure Overnight

Orange County Fire Authority medics & Hazardous Materials teams arrived at Beach Boulevard & Madison where five suffered fentanyl exposure.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA —Early Friday morning, two Huntington Beach police officers and three others suffered fentanyl exposure during a traffic stop in the unincorporated Midway City area of Orange County, Orange County Fire Authority reported.

The Hazardous Materials Response Team and paramedics were called to the scene to identify an unknown substance and assess five people just before 12:30 a.m. at the corner of Beach Boulevard and Madison Avenue, according to a spokesperson for Orange County Fire Authority.

The "HazMat" team determined the substance contained fentanyl, they said.

Two law enforcement officers were assessed and transported as a precaution. Our HazMat team is methodically decontaminating the scene.

The officers were examined at a hospital and released, the Huntington Beach Police Department reported. Orange County health officials were notified of the incident.
