Local 12U Travel Baseball team hosts Chinese Taipei
The OC Invaders recently hosted and played a 3 game series with Chinese Taipei. The Invaders will compete in Cooperstown, NY this summer.
A local 12U travel baseball team was honored with a special opportunity this past week; they were treated to a 3 game series competing against a team from Chinese Taipei. The visiting Chinese Taipei team has a rich history of producing some of the best youth baseball teams in the world. They most recently won the Bronco World Series this past summer and have won a total of seven since 1994.
The Orange County Invaders is a team made up of 11 boys from the Seal Beach and Los Alamitos area. Most have been playing baseball since the age of five but throughout many years and coming together from different local leagues, they are now the OC Invaders.
The team is coached by Matt Pixa, Chad Brown, and Pete Nunez. The Invaders have been working towards a long-term goal of competing this summer in Cooperstown, NY. These boys will also have the opportunity to represent Los Alamitos Youth Baseball in the 2017 Bronco World Series which is being hosted by LAYB.

With all these goals on their list the one thing that came as a total surprise was the opportunity to host and play a traveling team from Chinese Taipei. With very little English spoken by the visiting team, the connection point and language spoken was baseball! After each game the boys exchanged gifts and traded jerseys. The final game was played for fun with each team mixing in players from the opposing squad.
The OC Invaders will be in action again over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend so come out and cheer them on. The Invader players are Daniel Benson, CJ Brown, Trent Cairns, Noah Collado, Chad Gurnea, Marco Morales, Damian Nunez, Cole Parker, Lance Pixa, Jeremiah Tiberend, and Parker Wilson.

If you would like to help support these boys and the big year they have coming up…please consider donating new or lightly used shoes. The Invaders have partnered up with a charity called Angel Bins that collects and donates shoes to impoverished areas in Africa and South America. Your shoes would be greatly appreciated. Please have them tied together and dropped off in garbage bags throughout the day on January 7th and January 8th at 3761 Wisteria Street Seal Beach, CA 90740.
