Los Alamitos High School Choirs Sweep First Competition of the Season

Three of Los Alamitos High School's choirs swept the first contest of the competition season at the Burbank Blast Show Choir Competition in Burbank over the weekend. Soundtrax, Xtreme and SoundFX all came in First Place in their divisions.

 “It was amazing,” said Laura Williams, the publicity representative for the Note-Ables Booster Club, whose daughter is in the choir. “The Choir Program at Los Alamitos is one we are so proud of.  We are fortunate to have a community and district that endorses the arts.” 

 The choirs still have a big season ahead of them.

 “Because we took first in everything, the bar is set higher,” Williams said. “Everyone wants to beat us.”

The choirs will compete again this weekend at Brea High School. In March, Los Alamitos High School will host the state’s largest competition, and the choirs will then head to New York to compete for the national championship.

 The booster’s are raising money for the New York competition because all of the costumes and equipment will need to be transported across country by truck or bus.

 “We have raised enough money to get us there, but then we are stuck in New Jersey,” said Williams. “We still need to raise enough money to get us all the way home.”
