Los Alamitos Police To Address Rising Property Crimes In City
The police department will ask Los Alamitos councilmembers to bring 12 automated license plate readers into the city.
LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Property crimes, including auto and catalytic converter thefts, have been on the rise in Los Alamitos since 2019. In an attempt to lower property crime rates, the Los Alamitos Police Department wants the city to invest in 12 automated license plate readers to station throughout the city.
Los Alamitos councilmembers will vote on the program this Monday during their monthly meeting, according to a recently published agenda on the city’s website.
If adopted, the city will enter a one-year pilot program with Flock Safety, a developer of public safety operating systems, for a cost of $33,000. At the end of the agreement, the police department will return to council chambers to discuss the effectiveness of the automated license plate readers.
