Man, 27, Charged In Armed OC Home Invasion; 3 Suspects At Large

The man was charged with using a stun gun to immobilize a resident of the household during the home invasion robbery.

WESTMINSTER, CA — A 27-year-old man was charged Wednesday with participating in a home-invasion robbery in Westminster.

Danny Sommay was charged with one count of kidnapping to commit robbery and five counts of robbery, all felonies, with sentencing enhancements for using a gun and a stun gun in the attack, according to court records.

The Westminster Police Department was called to the 8900 block of Pebble Beach Circle on Sept. 11 around 10:40 p.m. after a woman called 911 and whispered that she needed help, according to a WPD statement.

Upon arrival, police found four men armed with handguns running from the home.

Sommay was arrested after throwing his handgun over a brick wall. The gun was found and later discovered to be a stolen handgun, according to a WPD news release.

Inside the home, police found five victims. They were only identified as an adult man and woman, an elderly woman, a teenage boy and a 7-year-old girl.

According to Westminster Police Department Sgt. Eddie Esqueda, the suspects forced entry into the home with their guns while wearing masks. One of the suspects apparently used a stun gun on the adult man, forcing him to the ground.

The man, the two children and the elderly woman were tied up as the robbers attempted to find valuables in the house.
