Man Charged In Fatal DUI Crash In Seal Beach: Report

A Los Angeles man has been charged in the alcohol-fueled crash that took the life of a Seal Beach woman.

SEAL BEACH, CA —A Los Angeles man was charged for a DUI crash that resulted in a Seal Beach woman's death. German Juarez, 29 was charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence. Two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and one count of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit .08 percent, according to court records.

Juarez also faces sentence enhancements for allegedly inflicting great bodily injury on two victims.

The collision occurred at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday at Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive, near the Leisure World retirement community, according to Lt. Nick Nicholas of the Seal Beach Police Department.
Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were called to the scene and rushed three people to a hospital for medical treatment. Both drivers were taken to a hospital, along with a passenger.

A woman who had been driving one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the hospital, Nicholas said. She was identified on the criminal complaint as Guadalupe I. Nicholas did not immediately respond Tuesday to a message asking for the victim's full identification.

Juarez suffered minor injuries, Nicholas said.

The passenger, whose description was not provided, suffered what was only described as non-life-threatening injuries, he said. It was unclear in which vehicle the passenger had been riding.

The criminal complaint alleges Juarez had a blood-alcohol level of .15% and failed to stop at a red light.
