Man Dies In Orange County Flood Control Channel Thursday

The man was pulled from the Coyote Creek flood control channel at 10 a.m. Thursday morning, authorities said.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A man died Thursday after firefighters pulled him from a flood control channel in north Orange County, authorities said.

Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority and the Long Beach Fire Department were sent to the area near Cerritos Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. in response to a person in the Coyote Creek flood control channel in Los Alamitos, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Thanh Nguyen said.

When firefighters arrived, they rescued a man from the channel and found that he was dead. His identity was not released and he was only described as an adult male.

Firefighters, including a swift water rescue team, searched the flood channel from Cerritos Avenue to the ocean and found no other victims, firefighters said.
