Pileup Snarls Morning Rush Hour on the 405

Several people were hospitalized after a speeding car slammed into a motor coach bus.

A multi-vehicle crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Carson today resulted in some injuries and at least one lane temporarily blocked.

The crash on the southbound 405 Freeway at Wilmington Avenue took place about 5:35 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi. The vehicles involved included a motor coach bus, a car and a van, according to Polizzi and broadcast news reports from the scene.

The driver of the car was speeding on the freeway and slammed into the rear of the motor coach bus and then into a van, which veered off the freeway, ABC7 reported.

Injuries were reported and Los Angeles County firefighters transported one or more people to a hospital for treatment, according to county fire Dispatch Supervisor Bernard Peters, who added he didn’t have an exact number of patients or any information on their conditions.

The crash backed up traffic on the 405 Freeway as rush hour began.
