Police Seek Witnesses to Seal Beach Stabbing

A homeless man was stabbed in the back during an argument near the San Gabriel River jetty.

Seal Beach Police are asking anyone who has information about a stabbing near the San Gabriel River jetty to come forward.

On Saturday, officers responding to a report of a robbery west of the jetty separating Seal Beach and Long Beach discovered a homeless man who had been stabbed in the back.

According to police, two Long Beach transients aged 57 and 58, had gotten into a fight.

ā€œDuring the fight, one of the subjects was in possession of a knife and stabbed the other subject in the back,ā€ said Seal Beach Police Department Sgt. Philip Gonshak. ā€œBoth subjects were detained by responding Officers and transported to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.ā€

The cause of the argument and the circumstances of the stabbing remain under investigation, and no arrests have been made yet, he said.
