Reality Star Jesse James' Sister Convicted of Embezzling from Los Alamitos Business

A jury convicted Juliana James England of embezzling more than $300,000 from a longtime family-owned business, forcing it to close.

A jury convicted a reality star’s sister of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Los Alamitos business.

The sister of TV personality Jesse James has been found guilty of three counts of wire fraud for embezzling about $336,000 from her Los Alamitos employer Callan Western Sales Company. Juliana James England, 60, is scheduled to be sentenced June 20.

According to prosecutors, England committed mail fraud to steal from Callan Western Sales for several years until the 31-year-old family business had to close in 2007 amid financial troubles. England charged company credit cards and wrote company checks to herself to obtain the company’s funds.

“As part of her scheme, she altered company records and created false bank stubs to give to the company’s accountant,” said Department of Justice spokesman Thom Mrozek.

From March 2003 to July 2007, England wrote at least 55 checks payable to either herself or her creditors totaling more than $33,000, and, to cover her tracks, she wrote false notations on the check stubs to indicate payment to a legitimate company vendor, said Mrozek.

England also used company credit cards for unauthorized personal expenses to the tune of $280,000.

Callan Western Sales was a family-owned business that operated between 1976 and 2007. The alleged fraud wasn’t discovered until after the business closed and the owners began receiving received credit card statements with charges such as airline tickets for England’s family members. The company owners reported the matter to the Los Alamitos Police Department, which investigated the case with the help of the FBI.
