Safety Tips During Coronavirus Pandemic From Seal Beach Police
"Criminals have and will use this pandemic to take advantage of people," Seal Beach Police warn.
SEAL BEACH, CA —Crime doesn't shelter in place, and criminals will use this global pandemic to take advantage of Seal Beach residents, the police say.
While the vast majority of people are following Gov. Gavin Newsom's orders to stay home, there are others who are capitalizing on this uncertain time.
"Criminals don't care if there is a global pandemic," Seal Beach Sgt. Nick Nicholas says.

Property crimes and fraud schemes continue to take place in Seal Beach, even though most good people are staying home.
“Rest assured that even during these troubling times, the SBPD is here to protect the community,” said Police Chief Philip Gonshak. “Don’t ever hesitate to call us because we are here 24/7 to make sure this wonderful community remains safe.”

Just like we can all do our part to help flatten the curve, by taking a few extra moments to make sure our vehicles and homes are less attractive to criminals, we can also do our part to prevent crime.
The Seal Beach Police Department wants to remind the public to remember:
- Lock your homes,
- Lock your cars,
- Don’t leave valuables unattended,
- Be aware of your surroundings,
- Remove deliveries from your porch or have them delivered to another location if you are not home,
- Install lights and cameras around your home and business,
