Kids, it’s time to start drooling. Babies, it’s time to start drooling even more.

The new Toys R Us/Babies R Us combo store will hold its grand opening in Seal Beach Sept. 7.

The 47,000-square foot business at 2347 Seal Beach Boulevard will celebrate with sales, giveaways and visits from costumed characters through Sept. 9.

To celebrate the grand opening, the Toys R Us Children’s Fund has awarded a $10,000 grant to Make-A-Wish Orange County & the Inland Empire, according to company spokeswoman Alyssa Peera.

Peera adds that the building also includes a number of environmentally friendly features including an energy system “that monitors environmental conditions and adjusts temperature, lighting and CO2 levels throughout the store in order to utilize natural light and reduce energy consumption”

Toys R Us currently operates more than 190 combo Toy’s/Baby’s stores in the United States.

The company has a total of 873 Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores in the country and Puerto Rico and more than 625 international stores.

“Whether guests are shopping for must-have toys for the kids in their lives or products for the more than 38,000 babies born in Orange County each year, this new Side-by-Side store will provide parents with both a convenient shopping experience and great values,” said Jerry Storch, company chairman and chief executive officer, Toys R Us, Inc. in a written statement.
