Sandbags Available As Seal Beach Prepares For Storm

Seal Beach residents are urged to prepare for the coming storm and expected flood conditions heading toward the coastal town.

The City of Seal Beach is expected to be impacted by a storm Tuesday, March 14 through Wednesday, March 19, which will bring intermittent periods of heavy rain and potential localized flooding.

SEAL BEACH, CA — The City of Seal Beach is expected to be impacted by a storm Tuesday, March 14 through Wednesday, March 19, which will bring intermittent periods of heavy rain and potential localized flooding.

The most significant part of the storm is predicted late Tuesday evening and continuing through Wednesday morning. A flash flood watch is in effect from Tuesday to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Downtown residents and business owners are encouraged to put your flood gates into place during the evening hours while your business is closed as a precautionary measure to protect your property and inventory.

As a reminder, the Seal Beach Police Department has several do-it-yourself sandbag stations for residents to use. Residents can pick up property-protecting sand bags at any of the following locations:

  • Eighth Street Beach Parking Lot
  • Fire Station 44 – 8th Street and Central Avenue
  • Arbor Park - 4665 Lampson Avenue
  • Marina Park – First Street and Marina Avenue

Seal Beach residents were also urged to sign up for real-time safety alerts via Nixle, which residents can sign up by sending a text message to the number "888777" with your zip code in the body of the message.
