SIGAlert In Orange County Caused By Freeway Jumper, Cops Say
A man threatened to jump to from the 5/57 Connector Overpass froze traffic Thursday, creating a commuter nightmare in Orange County.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A man threatened to jump Thursday from an overpass connecting the Santa Ana Interstate 5 Freeway and the 57 Orange Freeway.
Afternoon rush hour traffic was stalled the majority of the afternoon, tying up rush hour traffic before he was safely taken into custody.
Authorities were alerted at just after 3:15 p.m. that the unidentified man was threatening to jump from the Bristol Street-La Veta Avenue overpass, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Agustin Latosquin.

"He later surrendered to authorities, who took him to an area hospital to be evaluated," Latosquin said. "Authorities shut down the northbound lanes of the 57 to the 5, and the eastbound Garden Grove Freeway lanes to the northbound 57, until the man was brought to safety."
The westbound lanes of the 22 to the northbound 57 connector were also closed during that period.
