Stabbing Murder In Garden Grove

Police have labeled the body found at a north Orange County abandoned construction site a "suspicious death," after a man was found stabbed.

GARDEN GROVE, CA — The body of a man, found stabbed to death, was discovered at an abandoned three story construction site in Garden Grove it was discovered on Tuesday. The body displayed obvious signs of trauma and authorities are labeling the death suspicious, said Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.

"Homicide detectives have gone around to local businesses which have cameras and are trying to get video," Whitney told media from the scene near Brookhurst and Garden Grove Boulevard. This is an active investigation at a site that has been abandoned for over 10 years, according to police.

The Orange County Coroner has determined the man, either Caucasian or Hispanic, died at the scene on Tuesday.

The man, who authorities believed to have been between 19 and 25, was reported at just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at 10080 Garden Grove Blvd. That is one of the only empty structures at a busy business district. The property has a multi-story, unfinished steel-framed structure on the premises. It is unclear as of this report who found the body and in what circumstance. It is not clear whether or not the person who was found was homeless, or if homeless people were living inside the abandoned building.

"Detectives observed trauma on the victim and at this point they are investigating this as a suspicious death," Whitney said. "The cause of death will be determined by the coroner."

Garden Grove detectives interviewed witnesses who discovered the body at the construction site.
