Suspect In Leisure World Burglaries Faces Judge

A man, 43, is accused of repeatedly preying upon Leisure World residents by offering to perform services to gain access to their homes.

SEAL BEACH, CA — A 43-year-old man is expected to face a judge Monday on charges that he stole from Leisure World residents in Seal Beach.

Robert Demetro, of Alhambra, faces burglary charges for allegedly running a distract and grab scheme in leisure World in 2018. According to the Seal Beach Police Department, Demetro, would distract residents by offering to perform services such as dent repair. Once he had access to residents' homes, he would steal personal items such as credit cards, according to Seal Beach police investigators.

The first alleged incident occurred Feb. 25th, 2018 when Seal Beach Police Officers received a call of a theft in progress in Leisure World. The suspect fled the location but was later identified through followup investigation, according to police. He was then linked to a second theft in Leisure World which had happened a week earlier on Feb. 19th, police allege.

The Seal Beach Police Special Enforcement Team and Detective Bureau served a felony arrest warrant in the City of Alhambra., arresting Demetro in March of 2018. During the investigation, it was revealed that Demetro had been previously arrested in 2014 for the same crime by Seal Beach Detectives.
