Tarp-Wrapped Body Found In Trunk Of Abandoned Car
A body was found by CHP officers on Thursday morning. A meticulous forensic investigation followed as police seek suspects.
ANAHEIM, CA — A body was found wrapped in a tarp in the trunk of a car in Anaheim Thursday morning, reports say. Police have not officially released information regarding the gender or age of the victim as they are conducting an active homicide investigation.
California Highway Patrol officers spotted an abandoned car parked on Santa Ana Canyon Road west of Gypsum Canyon Road, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Daron Wyatt.
The officers investigating the car noticed the tarp and ultimately made the discovery of the human remains left in the trunk of the vehicle. Anaheim police were called to the scene at around 11 a.m.

The car was parked just underneath the connector road of the Riverside (91) Freeway to Foothill (241) Toll Road, Wyatt said.
Forensics teams "meticulously processed"a large area surrounding the vehicle throughout the day, Wyatt said. "This is an important step before processing the vehicle and determining the contents."

Later, officials towed the vehicle directly to the coroner's office where they confirmed a body was inside the trunk.
Anyone who saw the vehicle on Santa Ana Canyon Road or has information about how the body ended up in the trunk was asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
