Body ID'd As Teen Missing From Huntington Beach Pier: Coroner
The body of a Temecula woman washed ashore on Huntington Beach Thursday less than 24 hours after the search for Jessy Cook was called off.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — After a multi-agency search for a missing woman was called off, the body of a woman washed ashore in Huntington Beach late Thursday. The Orange County Coroner positively identified the young woman's remains as Temecula resident Jessy Cook, missing from the end of the pier since Tuesday night.
"The deceased was a missing person last seen on Tuesday night near the Huntington Beach Pier," OC Coroner's office said. "She was found in the ocean south of the pier on Thursday."
Cook's body washed up on the beach near Tower 7 at 12:45 p.m., Huntington Beach police Officer Angela Bennett told Patch. The 18-year-old missing woman Jessy Cook was last seen about 11:45 p.m., near the end of the pier where some of her belongings were found, according to reports from the scene. A multi-agency search was initiated by the U.S. Coast Guard. The ocean search was suspended about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

"The Coast Guard and partner agencies searched for approximately 11 hours covering nearly 137 square nautical miles," according to a Coast Guard statement.
The search, using boats and at least one helicopter, included Huntington Beach lifeguards and personnel from the Huntington Beach Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Divers on what was described as a recovery operation were later recalled after their search turned up no sign of the young woman.
