• Los Altos resident launches second RIPPLE Station to promote kindness (losaltosonline.com) — A Los Altos resident known as Mansi has expanded her RIPPLE Station kindness project from a box outside her home to a new station at the Sweet Shop on Los Altos Avenue. Neighbors and visitors helped paint small art tokens that residents can take, personalize, and give to often-overlooked workers. Participants say the project is helping them connect more deeply with local service staff and each other.
   

• Los Altos Council approves renaming of Lee Street to Tubman Street (losaltosonline.com) — Los Altos residents successfully pushed the city council to rename Lee Street after Harriet Tubman, with a unanimous vote on Aug. 25 and a formal resolution expected next. Because no one lives on the street, the change focuses squarely on whom the community chooses to honor, reflecting local values of equity and inclusion. Officials and historians also traced how the street originally got its Confederate-linked name.
