Internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist Charito returns to Meyhouse Jazz with a special program celebrating the music and spirit of Shirley Bassey.
Known as one of Japan’s most prominent jazz vocalists, Charito has built an international career through her deeply personal, expressive style — moving with ease from soulful ballads to swinging grooves and adventurous improvisation. Her recordings and performances have featured collaborations with legendary artists including Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard, Roy Hargrove, Harvey Mason, the Manhattan Jazz Orchestra, Ivan Lins, and Michel Legrand.
In this program, Charito brings her own jazz sensibility to Bassey’s world of drama, elegance, and unforgettable song. Expect an evening of bold melodies, expressive storytelling, and timeless glamour — reimagined through Charito’s distinctive voice.
