Ellen Pao Appealing Case Against Kleiner, Perkins

A jury in March shot down her discrimination claims.

Court documents were filed today on behalf of Ellen Pao, a former Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers partner, who is appealing the result of her gender discrimination lawsuit against the Silicon Valley venture capital firm, according news reports.

A San Francisco jury in March found that sex discrimination allegations lodged against Kleiner, Perkins by former employee Pao were without merit.

Her lawsuit against the Menlo Park venture capital firm, filed on May 10, 2012, suggested that Pao’s gender was a factor in the firm’s decision not to promote her and that it was also a factor the firm considered when deciding to terminate her.

“I have told my story and thousands of people have heard it. If I’ve helped to level the playing field for women and minorities, then the battle was worth it,” Pao said outside the courtroom after the March verdict.

Today, however, she has opted to appeal, according to a report on CNBC. Details here.
