Hewlett Packard Co. Foundation Donates $250K To Silicon Valley Heart Ball

The fundraising event for cardiovascular and stroke research will be May 28, and Meg Whitman appointed Chairman of the Ball.

The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association are pleased to announce a $250,000 donation from the Hewlett Packard Company Foundation.

The unprecedented donation will boost fundraising efforts for the annual Silicon Valley Heart Ball Gala which has raised millions of dollars to fund life-saving cardiovascular and stroke research.

Meg Whitman, HP Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, has also accepted the position as Chairman of the Heart Ball. Whitman, has served on the boards of several agencies and organizations including the Proctor & Gamble, eBay Foundation, Summit Public Schools and Teach for America.

“As a recognized and well-respected business leader, Whitman will elevate heart disease and stroke in Silicon Valley by taking it to the next level,” says Sean Maloney, chair of the Silicon Valley AHA Board of Directors and former Intel executive. “She shows vision and direction to support the mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”

The American Heart Association values Whitman’s commitment to community service and is distinctly honored to have her leadership skills to further our mission and generate funds to exceed our $3 million goal.

The Silicon Valley Heart Ball will be held on Thursday, May 28th.
